I attended Blossom Elementary from K-8th and graduated from Prairiland High School in 1991. I then graduated from Paris Junior College in 1993. After marrying and starting a family, I graduated from Texas A&M- Commerce in 2007.
I have a Associate’s Degree from Paris Junior College and a Bachelor of Science- Interdisciplinary Studies Degree from Texas A&M-Commerce. I also have a Special Education Certification for K-12th grade.
This is my third year to teach 1st grade at Deport Elementary, but this is my 12th year as an educator.
I previously taught at North Lamar ISD for 9 years. I started at North Lamar in 2008 as a 3rd grade teacher and continued at this position until 2015. In 2015 I took a new position as a 2nd and 3rd grade Reading Interventionist in Special Education at North Lamar. One of my biggest honors while teaching at North Lamar was receiving Regular Educator of the Year award for the 2012-2013 school year.
My husband and I have been married for 24 years. We have 2 children, Kayli and Karsen. Kayli attends Texas A&M-Commerce, pursuing a degree in Education. Karsen is in Kindergarten this year at Deport Elementary.
I enjoy spending time with my family whether it is being outside, shopping, or simply just hanging out watching a movie and eating pizza. With two kids their hobbies become my hobbies, but I enjoy what I like to call, ‘junking”. Finding old things and trying to bring it back to its original glory or giving it a new look is something that peeks my interest quickly. I love to shop! My idea of shopping is visiting the small downtown areas or squares, browsing in the mom and pop shops, and learning the history behind the town.
